ONE Clemson gala, golf tournament to raise funds for student athlete career services

April 18, 2016

The ONE Clemson Organization is hosting its second annual golf tournament and gala to raise funds for career programs to help student athletes.

The gala will be Friday in Bon Secours Wellness Arena and will feature live entertainment and silent auctions. The golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday at the Mountain Park Course in Traveler’s Rest and will feature several current and former Clemson athletes.

The golf tournament will begin at 11 a.m. Members of the community are invited to register teams of four players, each of which will be joined by a Clemson athlete.

Golf tournament participants will have the opportunity to interact with several former athletes, including C.J. Spiller, Tajh Boyd, Sammy Watkins, Brian Dawkins, Kris Benson, Rod Gardner, Michael Dean Perry and several others.

The Clemson Professional Golf Management program will give golf lessons to interested student-athletes.

Proceeds from both the gala and the golf tournament will go toward the ONE Clemson Fund, which helps create career programs for student athletes as well as fund an annual community service project. The project this year will be creating an athletic field for The Phoenix Center and Whitehorse Academy.

“This event provides a great opportunity for the development of student athletes,” said Patrick Sapp, director of development/alumni relations at Clemson. “It helps them find employment and allows them to connect with businesses.”

ONE Clemson was founded in 2014 with the aims of upholding Clemson values while supporting both academics and athletics. For more information about registration, visit www.oneclemsonevent.com.
