One Million Cups Columbia Hosts FastTrac and Fig Magazine

COLUMBIA, SC – Last week’s installment of One Million Cups Columbia started off on the “FastTrac” with Tom Ledbetter presenting on how the Midlands Tech Enterprise Campus is helping train and promote entrepreneurs in the Midlands.
FastTrac Columbia is an affiliate program of the Kauffman Foundation, run by a group of local entrepreneurs. FastTrac programs serve existing and aspiring entrepreneurs in non-academic environments. Participants learn from subject matter experts in a 10-day, 30-hour program. FastTrac has served more than 300,000 entrepreneurs since 1993, with approximately 400 of them from the Midlands.
Our next presenter was a Columbia native who, while living in Pennsylvania, began writing for Fig magazine and knew she had to bring it down south. Inspired by the growing spirit of Columbia’s local optimism, Janet Scouten believes there is no end to the stories that can be told about the people doing good work in this town. “I love Columbia,” says Janet. “And I believe with my whole heart that it’s Columbia’s turn to shine.”
