One Million Cups Hosts Companies from Columbia, Spartanburg

June 24, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – Barre3 Columbia was first up last week as we shared coffee and conversation about the entrepreneurial community in the Midlands. Owner, Lauren Truslow, came to share about her new fitness studio, a franchise out of Portland, Oregon and the crowd had lots of questions for her in relation to her company’s unique concept.

“Barre3 is a fitness studio where ballet barre, yoga and Pilates meet in one amazing class. We are a boutique studio with child care, a nutrition component and retail. Barre3 Columbia offers classes from 6am until 8pm in the evening,” said Truslow. “Our grand opening is hopefully going to be in August, and we can’t wait!”

The second group of presenters were from Credda Capital, an upstate group that is using a streamlined technology back-end to enable retailers to secure more sales by offering lease-purchase financing.

Credda offers consumers fair and transparent financing options for obtaining durable goods under $5,000. While they are new to market, the founding group has years of experience with big name credit companies and technology firms.

Audience member, John Thomas, said, “It was really interesting to hear the differences between a franchisee and a small start-up. But at the end, of the day, they all face similar challenges. That’s why I like this platform; it’s a great way to have an open dialogue among other entrepreneurs to see what’s working and what’s not.”

Come join the conversation at One Million Cups. We meet weekly, on Wednesdays at 9 a.m. at Cromer’s on Huger. If you are interested in presenting your concept or company, please go to http://www.1millioncups.com/ to learn more!
