Organist Christopher Nash to perform at Presbyterian College

February 13, 2018

Presbyterian College welcomes organist Christopher Nash to campus for a recital on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in Belk Auditorium. It is free and open to the public.

Originally from Greenwood, SC, Nash began studying organ and piano at a young age. He has been inspired by all genres of organ, including theater, secular, and traditional organ. His eclectic style reflects these various aspects of organ playing.

Nash has played a number of concerts in the southeast, including several that have reached more than 2000 elementary school children that introduced them to the pipe organ.

Nash studied organ performance at the University of South Carolina with Dr. William Bates. There, Nash also accompanied the 150-voice University Choir. Nash has performed throughout the state with various choral groups, including the Mozart Requiem with Charleston Symphony Orchestra Spiritual Choir.

A member of the American Guild of Organists, Nash serves as the public relations chairman for the 2013 Regional Convention. He serves on the board of directors for The South Carolina Methodist Fellowship, and performs the annual concert with the Chamber Choir at the National Fellowship Music and Arts Week held in North Carolina.

Nash instructs private organ and piano lessons, and has served as an organ and choral clinician at various events. Since 2013, he has been Associate Minister of Music at St. John’s Methodist Church in Aiken, SC. He is the primary organist on their monumental Schantz organ, conducts the youth choir, and conducts the early service chamber style choir. Most recently, his youth choir of men and women sang, by invitation, at the candlelight evening tour for Biltmore House in Asheville, NC.

In addition to being a professional musician, Nash is the proprietor of Buddy Nash Holdings, a retail holdings company based in Columbia, SC.  He coaches T-Ball with Trenholm Recreation League, and is the proud foster dad of two wonderful nine- and four-year-old boys.
