Owner of Greenville-based Architect Firm is Chair of IFRAA
October 16, 2014GREENVILLE, SC – Good City Architects (GCA), an architecture and interior design firm in Greenville, SC, is pleased to announce its founder, Ron Geyer, as the Chair of the Interfaith Forum on Religion Art & Architecture (IFRAA), a 4,500-member Knowledge Community of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) focused on the design of worship spaces.
Ron has served as Chair in 2013 and 2014 and will continue as a member of Executive Committee with responsibility for fundraising and leadership development in 2015. His five-year term ends at the end of 2016. As Chair of IFRAA, Ron is guiding a reorganization of the 80-year-old group to better serve ministry leaders and the architects and artists who work with them.
“Even though its foundations are unchanged, the modern worship experience, for many, bears little resemblance to 80, 40 or even 10 years ago,” said Geyer. “Architects have the ability to translate this transformation into environments that reflect these changes, and to do it in a way that will allow religious communities to be good stewards of their resources. Professional organizations like ours can and need to be a great help in sharing what’s being learned around the world.”
The IFRAA Knowledge Community is an association of professionals whose primary interest is religious facilities in a broad array of traditions. The community values an interfaith forum for the exchange of ideas relating to religion, art and architecture and encourages excellence in the design of worship spaces and their accouterments.
