O’Neal achieves four million hours of safe operations

December 7, 2016

O’Neal, Inc., a Greenville-based integrated design and construction firm, recently celebrated the achievement of four million man hours without a lost time accident.

“At O’Neal, safety is our highest priority,” said Kevin Bean, O’Neal President and CEO. “We are committed to keeping our project personnel, team members, clients, subcontractors, the public and the environment safe when we are completing our projects.”

O’Neal has taken a very proactive approach to safety. The company provides safety training for all employees, including engineers and office staff. O’Neal’s safety training for field staff goes beyond the OSHA 30-hour training. This safety program aims to achieve a safe workplace with proper planning, orientation, training, oversight and documentation.

“Safety is paramount in everything that we touch,” said Chris Campbell, O’Neal’s Safety Director. “Our people place a high priority on ensuring we prioritize safety in every phase of a project.” During the last three years, the company has reduced its incident rate at a time when project hours have more than doubled.

The company’s safety training and planning approach has emphasized increased awareness of safety and best practices, especially for complex capital projects.

“I attribute our success to our employee-owner’s dedication to proper planning, orientation, training and commitment to continual evaluation and improvement,” said Bean.
