Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter receives $1,000 grant from Colonial Life
May 1, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – May 1, 2014 – Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter announce it has recently been awarded a $1,000 grant from Colonial Life to help fund its Dress for Success program.
The Dress for Success program will provide teen residents of Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter with necessary resources needed for job interviews, college interviews and military recruitment meetings.
Each teen will receive at least one business outfit and dress shoes. The staff at Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter will help the teens build their resumes and prepare them for their interviews.
Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter provides a safe and nurturing environment for abused and neglected children and unaccompanied youth, offering them a broad range of services concentrating on personal healing and development.
Marie McGehee, manager of community relations at Colonial Life, says the Dress for Success program serves an important role in the community.
“This program gives teens the resources and confidence they need to make a good first impression in the business world,” she says. “Colonial Life is pleased to help support programs like these that make our community a better place to live and work.”
The shelter is open 24 hours each day of the year with medical and mental health care, crisis adjustment/transitional counseling, after school tutoring and recreational and social activities in addition to food, clothing and shelter.
