Parade, Vendor applications open for upcoming ‘Holiday Magic’ events
November 9, 2023The city of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs is currently accepting applications for community participation in this year’s Holiday Magic events.
In addition to attending as spectators, members of the public are invited to apply to participate in the following holiday events:
- Holiday Parade: The city of Charleston invites local schools, community groups and businesses to apply to participate in the upcoming Holiday Parade, set for Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 3 p.m. As a reminder, the deadline for application is 5 p.m., November 10, 2023. Those interested can submit an application here.
- Parade of Boats: The annual Holiday Parade of Boats, produced in partnership with America’s Boating Club Charleston, will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 6 p.m. This display of lighted and festive boats proceeds from the Cooper River through Charleston Harbor and into the Ashley River. Applications to participate can be submitted here and must be received by Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 4 p.m. For judging purposes, boat entries will be categorized as either power or sail. As always, a trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring vessel.
- Holiday Magic Vendor Interest Form: The city is searching for food, artisan and craft vendors to participate in multiple Holiday Magic events this holiday season. Vendor interest forms can be filled out and submitted here. Possible vending opportunities include but are not limited to:
- Holiday Magic on King Street: Thursday, December 7 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This family-friendly block party will feature live music, holiday vendors and festive refreshments available for purchase.
- Holiday Market at Marion Square: Saturdays and Sundays, December 2 and 3; 9 and 10; 16 (no market on December 17) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to these events, the annual Chanukah in the Square celebration, an initiative of the Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program at the College of Charleston and Chabad of Charleston and the Lowcountry, will take place on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at 4 p.m. in Marion Square. The event will feature live music, arts and crafts, and traditional seasonal food and will culminate with the lighting of a menorah at dusk.
