PBI Performance Products, Inc. Announces a New Safety Record Achieved by its Rock Hill, SC Manufacturing Facility
September 16, 2009ROCK HILL, SC – Sept. 14, 2009 – PBI Performance Products, Inc. announces a new safety record achievement for its Rock Hill, SC manufacturing facility. Last week, the world’s only producer of high performance polybenzimidazole (PBI) fiber and Celazole PBI polymer broke its prior safety record of over two years without an OSHA reportable incident. This record has continued to be broken every day since then due to the conscientious efforts of the Rock Hill workforce and management team. Further, the last lost time injury was April 24,1991. In recognition of this accomplishment, PBI Performance Products, Inc. sponsored a Safety Day event for employees at Pitcairn Cove Beach Park in Tega Cay, SC, on Friday, September 11, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
S. Grant Reeves, President of PBI Performance Products, Inc. said Clearly the new record is testament to the safety culture and awareness that every PBI employee takes seriously. I’m very proud of our employees who have diligently followed proper procedures, donned personal protective equipment every time and are always looking out for their fellow coworkers. It is, by any measure, a substantial achievement worthy of management accolades and congratulations.
Events for the Safety Day celebration included a moment of silence in remembrance of the 09/11 victims, a fitting tribute to the firefighters and other first responders who rely on PBI fibers for their personal protection.
PBI fiber is the world’s leading inherently flame-resistant and thermally stable fiber and Celazole PBI is the highest performance engineering thermoplastic available today.
