PC Student and Professor Team Up to Launch Children’s Book on Pediatric Development
September 4, 2024A classroom discussion between Presbyterian College Occupational Therapy Doctoral student Madison “Madie” DeGennaro and her mentor, Dr. Courtney Addison, has blossomed into an exciting new project—“Pebbles’ Great Adventure,” a children’s book designed to both entertain and educate. What began as a simple idea has evolved into a heartfelt mission to inspire young readers while supporting pediatric development.
“Pebbles’ Great Adventure” is not just a story; it’s a resource that highlights the importance of attunement, interoception, and social interaction in children’s growth. DeGennaro’s passion for understanding the developmental stages of children and the caregiver-child bond has been the driving force behind this project. With Dr. Addison’s expertise in pediatric rural occupational therapy and her personal journey as a mother, this book aims to make a meaningful impact on the field of pediatric development.
“We are incredibly excited to share this project,” said Dr. Addison. “It started as a dream, and now, a year later, it’s becoming a reality. But we need your help to bring this story to life!”
To fund the development and publication of “Pebbles’ Great Adventure,” DeGennaro and Dr. Addison have launched a Kickstarter campaign. They are calling on the community to support this project, with every contribution bringing them one step closer to sharing this important story with children everywhere.
“We would love for you to be a part of this journey with us,” DeGennaro added. “Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us reach our goal and brings ‘Pebbles’ Great Adventure’ to life.”
For those interested in supporting this meaningful project, contributions can be made through the Kickstarter campaign at the following link: Pebbles’ Great Adventure Kickstarter.
