PC Wind Ensemble & Chamber Winds to Perform

October 24, 2022

Presbyterian College Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds will present a concert, Resounding Spirit!, on Thursday, November 3.

The concert features grandiose music in sound and meaning. We know by experience that music has the ability to touch the transcendental, to take us beyond this material world. We also acknowledge that certain composers and specific works can help us achieve such transcendentality more easily. The musical selections of the concert will do exactly that: reach our souls, connect us with all creation, and rekindle the divine inside all of us.

The PC Chamber Winds opens with the witty Aeolian Trio and with the reverence of Susato’s Renaissance Suite. The PC Wind Ensemble takes the stage with the energetic Encanto (‘charm’), the seductive Argentinian dance A Little Tango Music, and the intensity of Stamp’s Pervicacity. A resounding spirit can also manifest itself through a calm contemplation of the ordinary beauty that surrounds us. The audience gets this opportunity with At Morning’s First Light and the Brazilian work Suite do Vale.  The festive and upbeat Farandole from L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2 follows and the concert closes with the intricate and fascinating theme and variations of God of Our Fathers, a dignified grand finale!

If you have attended prior concerts you know that this is not to be missed.  The concert begins at 7:30 pm and is free to all in the community to attend.
