Pickin’ in the Park Bluegrass Festival Features Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice

MONCKS CORNER, SC – September 23, 2009 – Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice, nominated for 2009’s “Emerging Artist” award by the International Bluegrass Music Association, is the headliner for the 10th annual Pickin’ in the Park Bluegrass Festival, set for Saturday, Oct. 3 from 1 to 8 p.m. at the  Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner.

Sisk, the band’s lead singer and front man for the Virginia-based group, has also been nominated by IBMA this year as “Male Vocalist of the Year.” Their latest album, “Blue Side of the Blue Ridge” on Rebel Records, is the association’s “Album of the Year” and its single, “Leavin’ Baker County,” has been nominated as “Song of the Year.”

This year’s festival also sees return performances by the students of Moncks Corner’s Bluegrass Academy, as well as The High Windy Band and Kenny and Amanda Smith. The schedule:

1 p.m. – The High Windy Band
2 p.m. – Kenny and Amanda Smith
3 p.m. – Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice
4 p.m. – Bluegrass Academy students
5 p.m. – The High Windy Band
6 p.m. – Kenny and Amanda Smith
7 p.m. – Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice

Gates open at noon, and admission is $10. Lawn chairs are welcome, but please leave your pets and coolers at home. Vendors will be selling food and beverages, and a free jump castle will be available for children.
