Porter Durham joins Grant Philanthropic Advisors

Porter Durham joins Grant Philanthropic Advisors bringing decades of philanthropic leadership. In his role as Of Counsel with GPA, Porter will make strategic connections to potential clients and thought leaders in the philanthropic field. He will also leverage his experience and that of the GPA team to best serve the needs of our diverse client portfolio.

Grant Philanthropic Advisors is an independent, Charleston-based firm helping philanthropists focus and maximize their philanthropy—in turn, strengthening the fabric of our communities.

“Porter has deep experience working with foundations and their leadership teams,” says Kaky Grant, Principal of Grant Philanthropic Advisors. “His background in strategic philanthropy, legal, finance and investments equips Porter with the tools to help our clients make strategic and impactful decisions.”

Porter was Co-Founder, Managing Partner, and Counsel at Global Endowment Management. Previously he served as Staff Counsel and Director of the Education Division of The Duke Endowment, as well as a Partner and Chairman of the Corporate and Securities Department at Baker Donelson law firm.

He is currently chair of the board of the National Humanities Center and serves as a trustee of St. Andrew’s School, Delaware. He is the immediate past chair of the Duke Law School Board of Visitors and has served on the boards of the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy, The Oxford American Literary Project, Trinity Episcopal School, and Johnson C. Smith University. Porter graduated cum laude from Duke University and the Duke University School of Law.
