Post 56 and Auxiliary Unit Represent at Veteran’s Last Patrol Car Show
September 24, 2024Members of the Copeland-Davidson Post 56 and Auxiliary Unit 56 were proud to participate in the 5th Veteran’s Last Patrol Car Show, held on Saturday, September 21st in Greenwood, South Carolina. The event supports the Veteran’s Last Patrol program, whose mission is to “Befriend, Honor, and Support” veterans residing in three local hospices.
Vice Commander Eric Valiante and Auxiliary Sergeant-at-Arms Deb Valiante represented Post 56, bringing their vintage 1956 Ford truck, which proudly displayed the American Legion Post 56 insignia from Clinton, SC. Their participation highlighted the ongoing commitment of Post 56 to honor veterans in the community.
“Now that we understand how the program operates, we hope to have even greater participation from Post 56 members in the future,” said Valiante. “The Last Patrol is such a great cause, ensuring hospice veterans are reminded that they are not forgotten or alone in their final patrol.”
The Veteran’s Last Patrol organizes visits and shows to uplift and support veterans at hospice care facilities. Future “patrol routes” are planned for Spartanburg, Greenville, Greenwood, and Abbeville, providing more opportunities for Post 56 and other supporters to get involved.
