Presbyterian College Adds Juwan Moye to Lead Defensive Line

February 2, 2026

The Presbyterian College football staff continues to take shape as Head Coach Matt Rahl announced the addition of Juwan Moye as the Blue Hose defensive line coach. Moye becomes the seventh new member of Rahl’s staff as the program builds momentum following a 10-win season.

Moye arrives in Clinton with strong ties to the region and a reputation for developing talent in the trenches. A former standout at Newberry College, he helped the Wolves capture two South Atlantic Conference championships as a player before transitioning into coaching. He spent the last three seasons on the Newberry staff, contributing to one of the most successful stretches in program history.

“I am very excited to add Coach Moye to our staff,” Rahl said. “He brings great enthusiasm to our program and a proven track record of developing defensive linemen. Coach Moye also brings huge value to our staff due to his recruiting skill around the South Carolina and Georgia areas.”

This position marks Moye’s first opportunity to coach at the Division I level. He joins a Presbyterian College program looking to build on recent success and continue strengthening its presence in the Southeast recruiting landscape.

Coaching Career at Newberry (2023–25)

After concluding his playing career, Moye quickly moved into coaching, working with Newberry’s defensive line in 2023, tight ends in 2024, and returning to the defensive front in 2025.

The 2025 season proved historic for the Wolves. Following a three-win campaign the year before, Newberry surged to a 12–2 record and secured its third SAC Championship in five seasons. The Wolves won their final seven regular-season games and defeated Carson-Newman 28–21 in the conference title game, earning an automatic berth in the Division II playoffs. Newberry advanced to the national semifinals for the first time in program history with postseason wins over Kentucky State, West Florida, and top regional seed Albany State.

Defensively, Newberry led the conference with 13 interceptions and eight fumble recoveries during the championship run. Under Moye’s guidance, defensive lineman Jaydon Eason earned All-SAC Second Team honors.

In 2024, another of Moye’s position players, Colby Taylor, earned All-Conference recognition after leading the team with 14.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

Moye’s coaching debut in 2023 also featured notable defensive success. Newberry ranked second nationally in fourth-down defense, allowing conversions just 20 percent of the time, and finished among the SAC’s top three in fewest passing yards allowed per game. That season also included an unforgettable eight-overtime victory over Emory & Henry, setting a Division II record for the longest game in history. Defensive lineman Devante Gambrell earned All-SAC honors after tallying 34 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Playing Career at Newberry and Beyond (2020–22)

A Georgia native, Moye was a two-time team captain at Newberry and earned All-SAC Second Team recognition in 2022. Over 21 appearances, he recorded 49 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, two pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and a blocked kick.

The Wolves went 24–6 during his three seasons on the roster and captured back-to-back SAC Championships. Newberry posted a 14–3 conference record across his final two years and claimed the inaugural SAC Championship Game title with a 27–24 win over Mars Hill in his senior season. The 2021 team reached 10 wins and returned to the Division II playoffs for the first time in five years.

Before arriving at Newberry, Moye also spent time at the Virginia Cavaliers football and James Madison Dukes football. While at Virginia, he appeared in 22 games over two seasons under Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall, recording 21 tackles and contributing to a six-win campaign that included three ACC victories and a Military Bowl appearance.

Now, Moye brings that blend of playing experience, championship pedigree, and regional recruiting ties to Presbyterian College, where he will lead the development of the Blue Hose defensive line in the next chapter of the program’s growth.
