Presbyterian College Choirs Present “Songs and Stories: A Journey Through American Choral Music”

September 23, 2025

The Presbyterian College Choirs invite the community to experience an evening of Songs and Stories with a powerful program celebrating American choral traditions. The performance will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in Edmunds Auditorium at Presbyterian College. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m.

The program will highlight some of America’s most iconic composers, including Stephen Foster, Aaron Copland, Moses Hogan, Dan Forrest, William Dawson, and John Denver, alongside traditional Appalachian arrangements. The concert offers audiences a chance to hear both familiar favorites and moving choral works that tell the story of America through song.

This special evening will also feature the Batesburg-Leesville High School Panther Honor Choir, directed by Mrs. Cheryl Felder, as guest performers. The collaboration reflects Presbyterian College’s dedication to connecting young singers with collegiate and community music experiences.

In addition, Mr. Tom Donnelly, Presbyterian College Class of 1973, will return to the stage, adding another layer of tradition and connection to the program.

“American choral music carries stories of history, heritage, and hope. Through Songs and Stories, audiences will experience the diversity and beauty that define our nation’s musical landscape,” said Kipper Ackerman ’97, Director of Choral Activities and Visual and Performing Arts Department Enrollment Liaison at Presbyterian College.

The concert is open to the public, and all are invited to enjoy an evening of harmony, tradition, and storytelling through song.
