Presbyterian College Names Dr. Debra S. Lee as Professor of the Year 2012

GREENVILLE, SC – May 10, 2012 – Dr. Debra S. Lee, associate professor of early childhood and chair of the education department at Presbyterian College (PC) has recently been recognized as professor of the year for 2012. Dr. Lee has been on faculty at PC since 2005 and previously served on the faculties of Georgia State University, the University of Montevallo in Alabama, and Auburn University.
Through her leadership, the education program at PC has grown and gained national recognition. She has earned a reputation for excellence in the classroom, where she encourages, mentors, and challenges her students, helping prepare them to be future teachers and community leaders.
Her commitment to students and their development is evident in the success of the students. Every single one of Dr. Lee’s early childhood graduates has passed all licensure tests since she came to PC.
“It is such an honor to be named professor of the year and to represent the outstanding PC faculty,” said Dr. Lee. “This is recognition and validation from my peers that my work is making a difference in the lives of future educators, and for that I am so grateful.”
On campus, Dr. Lee has gained the respect of her peers and has served in a number of leadership capacities, including as a member of the Senior Faculty Council, the Presidential Search Committee, the educational representative for the Confucius Institute, the Child Development Center planning committee, and faculty advisor to the National Leadership Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa.
According to Provost Anita Gustafson, “Dr. Lee’s positive attitude, creative mind, and hard work make her an important part of the PC community, and these attributes are the reasons she was selected as Professor of the Year for 2012.”
