Presbyterian College Names Dr. Debra S. Lee Professor of the Year

GREENVILLE, SC – May 10, 2012 – Dr. Debra S. Lee, associate professorof early childhood and chair of the education department atPresbyterian College (PC) has recently been recognized as professor ofthe year for 2012. Dr. Lee has been on faculty at PC since 2005 andpreviously served on the faculties of Georgia State University, theUniversity of Montevallo in Alabama, and Auburn University.Through herleadership, the education program at PC has grown and gained nationalrecognition. She has earned a reputation for excellence in theclassroom, where she encourages, mentors, and challenges her students,helping prepare them to be future teachers and community leaders.

Her commitment to students and their development is evident in thesuccess of the students. Every single one of Dr. Lee’s early childhoodgraduates has passed all licensure tests since she came to PC.

“It is such an honor to be named professor of the year and torepresent the outstanding PC faculty,” said Dr. Lee. “This isrecognition and validation from my peers that my work is making adifference in the lives of future educators, and for that I am sograteful.”

On campus, Dr. Lee has gained the respect of her peers and has servedin a number of leadership capacities, including as a member of theSenior Faculty Council, the Presidential Search Committee, theeducational representative for the Confucius Institute, the ChildDevelopment Center planning committee, and faculty advisor to theNational Leadership Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa. According toProvost Anita Gustafson, “Dr. Lee’s positive attitude, creative mind,and hard work make her an important part of the PC community, and theseattributes are the reasons she was selected as Professor of the Year for2012.”
