Presbyterian Women to Face Sacred Heart in March Madness 2024 NCAA Tournament’s First Four

March 17, 2024

Presbyterian College (PC) women’s basketball team made history as they entered the March Madness 2024 NCAA Tournament for the first time. The excitement among Blue Hose supporters was electric with a large crowd gathering at PC for a watch party, eagerly awaiting the team’s matchup revelation Sunday evening.

Their journey begins with a showdown against Sacred Heart in the First Four, scheduled for Wed. March 20th @ 7:00 p.m. This play-in round determines the No. 16 seed for the overall draw, with the game set to unfold in Columbia. The victor of this clash will advance to face off against No. 1 seed South Carolina in the subsequent round on Friday or Saturday. Sacred Heart, boasting a commendable record of 24-9, dominated the Northeast Conference with a remarkable 14-1 standing. Want to go to Columbia and cheer them on in person? Comprising the four lowest-ranked conference champions from the automatic qualifiers, the First Four presents an opportunity for Presbyterian (20–14), which clinched the Big South Conference championship as a No. 5 seed following an 8-8 performance in league play during the regular season.

Fuelled by momentum, Presbyterian enters the tournament on a formidable note, winning eight of its past nine games. Their dominance was underscored by a commanding 60-37 victory over No. 3 seed Radford in the conference tournament championship. Notably, this season marks the first time the Blue Hose have achieved the milestone of winning 20 games.

Go Blue Hose!
