Prisma Health announces Jason Marx as Medical Group president
April 3, 2025Jason Marx, MD, MBA, joins Prisma Health to serve as president of the Prisma Health Medical Group. In this role, Dr. Marx will oversee one of the largest and most trusted medical groups in the country that serves more than 1.5 million patients annually and includes more than 300 physician practices across the Prisma Health network.
Marx is a proven physician executive with an extensive track record of effective clinical leadership across highly competitive urban and rural markets. “I am excited to join Prisma Health, a premier healthcare organization which is dedicated to delivering outstanding care and serving the community,” he said.

Most recently Marx served as president of physician services for University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), in a region that spans central Pennsylvania and Maryland. In this role, he supported a 2,000-member medical group that is highly regarded for its strong clinical performance and high team member engagement.
Prior to joining UPMC, Marx spent nearly 20 years as a pulmonary and critical care physician at University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS). He held many leadership roles at UMMS, including senior vice president of physician integration and value-based care, and chief of the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center.
Marx received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Stanford University Medical Center and a fellowship in critical care, pulmonary, and sleep medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also holds an MBA from Loyola University Maryland.
