Pyramid Contracting announces leadership transition to support continued growth
March 31, 2026Pyramid Contracting has announced a key leadership transition, with David E. Stewart promoted to Chief Executive Officer and Berry Ponder promoted to Chief Operating Officer, positioning the company for continued growth and long-term success.
Founder and owner Bobby Alexander shared that the decision reflects both timing and trust in the company’s leadership.
Since joining Pyramid Contracting 10 years ago, Stewart has played a critical role in the company’s expansion, helping shape Pyramid’s growth, culture, and reputation across South Carolina and the Southeast. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the company’s culture, operational standards, and client relationships.
As CEO, Stewart will focus on reinforcing the principles that have defined Pyramid’s success.
“Our reputation is built not just on what we build, but how we build it,” said Stewart. “We will continue to prioritize quality execution, strong client relationships, and a culture of accountability that ensures we deliver confidence on every project.”
Ponder brings a career built on team leadership and operational performance. As General Manager of Pyramid’s Upstate office, he grew the region while developing the people and culture that define how Pyramid operates.
“Berry’s promotion is equally well deserved,” Alexander said. “We’ve watched what he has built in the Upstate, not just projects, but a strong team. He brings both experience and the ability to inspire others, which will continue to strengthen our operations.”
In his new role, Ponder will focus on operational discipline, team development, and maintaining the high standards Pyramid is known for.
“This role carries real responsibility,” said Ponder. “My focus is on accountability to our people, our clients, and the standard of excellence that Pyramid represents. The foundation is strong, and my goal is to build on it the right way.”
This leadership transition reflects Pyramid Contracting’s continued commitment to stability, growth, and long-term success.
“This change provides certainty for the future and reinforces our commitment to longevity,” Alexander added.
As Pyramid continues to expand across South Carolina and the Southeast, the company remains focused on Building Strong, Building Together, and Building Excellence, delivering high-quality projects, strengthening partnerships, and continuing a legacy built to stand the test of time.
