Rebuild Upstate brings on AmeriCorps VISTA worker

October 27, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – Rebuild Upstate has added Kristen Knight to its team via the AmericaCorps Vista program.
A Florida native, Knight is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in psychology. She was an active member of Kappa Delta sorority and VolunteerUCF as well as mentored at a charter high school and served as a Guardian Advocate with the Mental Health Association of Central Florida.

The AmeriCorps VISTA program here supports this mission by targeting issues of poverty, primarily focusing on financial stability, and helping to create opportunities for economic success. During her year with Rebuild Upstate, Knight will focus on volunteer recruitment and training, increasing the donor base and creating long-term assessment plans.

“Rebuild Upstate’s work excites me,” Knight said. “It addresses issues that are often unseen. It is about more than repairing homes; these projects empower the community to take action and have lasting positive impacts on the homeowner’s entire life.”
