Rebuild Upstate reaches 100 home repairs in 2017

Rebuild Upstate has completed its 100th home improvement project of 2017.
The recipient of the milestone project was in the Pleasant Valley community. Volunteers from Mission Greenville and Rebuild Upstate’s Handyman Club spent a total of 425 hours on the home’s improvements, including roofing, electrical, plumbing, flooring and handrail repairs.
Mission Greenville is a student and adult construction ministry partnership with Greenville Baptist Association. Their volunteer group worked alongside the Handyman Club to ensure a safe atmosphere for the homeowner. Rebuild Upstate’s Handyman Club consists of retired men from the construction industry and provides advanced repair services to the nonprofit, such as plumbing, heating or electrical work.
Prior to Rebuild Upstate’s improvements, the home experienced several issues stemming from a leaking roof, including extensive floor and cabinet damage. The homeowner – who had recently suffered a stroke- said she was most grateful for the kitchen improvements and described the volunteer team as ‘very nice.’
Along with its 100th project milestone, Rebuild Upstate is also celebrating rapid growth from 2016. The nonprofit has completed nearly 20 more projects in the Upstate than this time last year.
“This is the earliest in the year our organization has ever hit this milestone,” said Chris Manley, Rebuild Upstate’s executive director. “We are on track to repair and rehabilitate a record number of homes this year thanks to the dedication of our volunteers and funding partners.”
