Renovated Fuller Fire Station Dedicated After Seven-Month Transformation

The City of Clinton officially marked the completion of renovations to the Fuller Fire Station on Springdale Drive last week with a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony, celebrating a major investment in firefighter safety, readiness, and quality of life.
The station, which serves the south side of Clinton while responding district-wide, underwent an approximately seven-month renovation that completely transformed the aging facility. During construction, firefighters were temporarily relocated to a camper on site as conditions inside the station were no longer suitable for overnight living.
Originally built without basic living amenities, the station was essentially gutted to the shell and rebuilt. The renovation added upgraded living quarters, a small kitchen, and a bath and a half—features that did not previously exist. The redesigned layout now includes separate dorm rooms for two firefighters, with additional space available should staffing need to expand during severe weather or emergency situations.
“This renovation was about taking care of the men and women who take care of our community,” said Fire Chief Marshall. “Our firefighters are here 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Providing them with a safe, functional, and modern space directly impacts their ability to serve Clinton effectively.”
Additional improvements include a new HVAC system, modern bay doors and lifts, enhanced fire and life safety features within the building, a backup generator, tankless water heater, washer and dryer, lockers, and multi-purpose tables that can serve as both workstations and dining areas. The project also included a new parking lot and replacement of the front concrete pad.
The Fuller Fire Station is staffed around the clock by two firefighters and currently contains two bunk beds, with room to add two more if the station is overstaffed during emergencies. Last year, the City of Clinton Fire Department responded to 1,975 calls for service.
The dedication ceremony included a laying of hands and a prayer for first responders led by Chaplain Kenny Moore, recognizing both the physical renewal of the station and the ongoing commitment of those who serve within it.
City officials and department leadership noted that the renovated station reflects the City of Clinton’s continued commitment to public safety and to ensuring firefighters have the resources they need to respond quickly and safely when residents need them most.
