Richland County Council approves contracts for construction of sidewalk projects under the Richland Penny Program

Richland County Council approved awarding contracts for the construction of three sidewalk projects under the Richland Penny Program during their regular session meeting.

Orion Construction Company will receive a contract for the Sidewalk Package S-4, or Wiley Street, for approximately $75,000. The work under the contract includes constructing a 5-foot wide sidewalk on Wiley Street, from Superior Street to Edisto Avenue, and installing two handicap ramps.

CBD Inc. will receive a contract for the Sidewalk Package S-2 for approximately $144,264.  The contractor will construct a 5-foot wide sidewalk along the east side of Mildred Avenue from Duke Avenue to Westwood Avenue. CBD Inc. will also build a 5-foot wide sidewalk on Maple Street from Gervais Street to Kirby Street.

These projects are funded by the Richland County Transportation Penny and offered through the County’s Sheltered Market Program exclusively to certified Small, Local Business Enterprise firms.
