Richland County Solid Waste & Recycling Offers Clothing and Book Drop-off, Free Mulch
June 22, 2015COLUMBIA, SC – Richland County Solid Waste and Recycling is now offering gently-used clothing and book collection at its two drop-off sites, and free mulch is available at the C&D Landfill.
Used clothing that is still in good, wearable condition can be placed in collection bins at both the C&D Landfill Drop-off Center (1070 Caughman Road North, off Monticello Road) and the Lower Richland Drop-off Center (10531 Garners Ferry Road, Eastover) during regular hours. The clothing and books that are donated will be reused, some of them being shipped to families in need in developing countries.
Additionally, Richland County residents and employees can now load up fresh, double-ground mulch for free at the C&D Landfill during regular hours. Residents should come equipped with their own shovels and gloves, though workers will be able to offer some assistance for loading trucks and trailers. Non-residents and businesses can also get mulch for $10 per ton. Mulch will be distributed at a first come, first served basis.
The C&D Landfill operates from 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m.- 12 p.m. on Saturday. The Lower Richland Drop-off Center operates from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12:30 p.m.- 5 p.m. on Sunday.
