Richland County Transportation Penny Program Launches Logo, Brand and Website
November 18, 2014RICHLAND COUNTY, SC – The Transportation Penny program, today officially launched its website and brand identity, symbolized by a logo that highlights the significance of the penny to County residents. The launch of the logo, brand and website was developed in collaboration with County staff and the Transportation Penny program development team.
The logo features a 2012 penny, marking the year in which residents of Richland County passed the Special Sales and Use Tax. The program’s brand, Richland Penny, is wrapped around the penny within a silver lining, which is synonymous with the County’s seal. The slogan for the Richland Penny program is Pennies Impacting People. The penny will positively impact the community through job creation, economic development, quality of life, and connectivity to green spaces for County residents and visitors.
Richland Penny’s website, at www.richlandpenny.com, is designed to educate, inform and involve residents. Features include publicizing public meetings, updating project phases, as well as highlighting the benefits of the program and procurement opportunities. As part of its mission to provide transparency and accountability, the Richland Penny team will post project costs and progress reports to the site.
The Richland Penny team will work closely with the County’s Transportation Department staff to ensure timely delivery of projects with seamless transitions through each phase.
“This is another step in the right direction in building this program from the ground up. We look forward to utilizing this website throughout the life of the transportation program to provide accurate project information, small business opportunities, and program transparency to our citizens,” said Rob Perry, transportation director for Richland County.
ICA Engineering, Brownstone and M.B. Kahn are the engineering and construction management firms spearheading the Richland Penny program team. They will be responsible for ranking projects, managing the program budget and overseeing every phase of each project until completion. Richland County Council approved a five-year contract with the program development team Oct. 28.
