Richland Library Cooper back open after construction

After nearly 16 months of construction, Richland Library is reopening the doors to its Cooper location and inviting the community to take a look at the newly redesigned facility.
The now 11,000 square-foot structure, located at 5317 North Trenholm Road, offers customers more areas to sit and read with comfortable furniture, interactive and expanded spaces for children and teens to learn, create and share, improved access to technology and exterior improvements around the property.
It also features enhanced spaces, which include:
- Children’s Area: Inspire lifelong learning, get your kids ready for kindergarten or build reading muscles in our expanded Children’s Area.
- Children’s Makerspace: Kids can tinker, experiment and create with a variety of tools and technology. This space can also be reserved for meetings.
- Covered Book Drop: In a hurry? Drop your items in our new, covered book drop – rain or shine.
- Makerspace: Teens and adults can tinker, experiment and create with tools in both guided and open lab sessions.
- Laptop Bar: Great minds come together in this open and interactive space. Bring your own laptop or check out one from us.
- Living Room: Connect with friends and neighbors, or grab a newspaper to stay up-to-date with stories from around the world.
- Reading Room: Step away from the hustle and bustle, and enjoy the serenity of our new reading refuge.
The upgrades are part of a nearly $3 million project that was planned for the Cooper location, made possible by Richland County residents with the passage of a $59 million bond referendum back in 2013.
