Richland One Board launching national search for next superintendent
February 21, 2025The Richland One Board of School Commissioners is launching a national search to find the district’s next superintendent.
The Board has hired BWP & Associates, a search firm that has conducted over 800 successful national searches. Dr. Kevin Castner, Dr. Debra Hill and Dr. Frank Morgan of BWP & Associates will lead Richland One’s superintendent search.
Richland One students, employees, parents, community members and other stakeholders will have multiple opportunities to share their input, including through an online survey, open community forums and focus groups.
“There is no decision more important than selecting the right superintendent for our school district,” said Board Chairman Robert Lominack. “Community engagement will be a very important part of that process.”
A critical first step is to identify the characteristics the Board will be looking for in a new superintendent. The objectives of the community engagement process are threefold:
- To learn the strengths, needs and issues of the district to recruit a slate of candidates to meet the district’s needs;
- To be able to describe the district’s strengths, needs and issues to the recruited candidates; and
- To engage in the process in such a way that it will build community understanding and support for the search.
Additional details about the community engagement process will be forthcoming.
BWP & Associates will present the results of the information received from the community engagement process to the Board along with a draft profile of the leadership characteristics for Richland One’s next superintendent.
Information and updates about the superintendent search will be posted on the district’s website at www.RichlandOne.org/SuperintendentSearch.
