Richland One employees raise nearly $90,000 for United Way of the Midlands

Richland County School District One, a longtime supporter of the United Way of the Midlands, recently completed its 2018 United Way campaign, with employees contributing nearly $90,000.

“We are grateful to our valued partnership with Richland One and its employees. Their continued support of United Way allows us to continue our mission to improve the lives of every person in our community, especially our youth,” said United Way President & CEO Sara Fawcett. “Their investments allow us to prepare children to enter kindergarten ready to learn, provide tutors for struggling readers to ensure students graduate high school on time, offer affordable eye and dental care for adults and children and to reduce against homelessness in the Midlands.”

Richland One employees contributed more than $89,350 through the 2018 United Way campaign. The district also had a 50 percent increase in Leadership Donors, which are individuals who contribute at least $1,000 to the annual campaign.

“I want to thank the United Way campaign directors at our schools and administrative buildings for their leadership of this year’s campaign,” said Richland One Superintendent Dr. Craig Witherspoon. “We are proud that the contributions made by our employees will help the United Way continue to offer vital programs and services that benefit the community, including many of our students and families.”
