Richland One ranks among the top ten South Carolina districts for Seals of Biliteracy earned
September 23, 2025Richland One was one of the top 10 school districts in the state with the highest number of students earning South Carolina Seals of Biliteracy during the 2024-2025 school year.
The Seal of Biliteracy recognizes students who have achieved a certain level of proficiency in English and at least one additional world language by graduation.
Richland One had the sixth most Seals of Biliteracy earned of any South Carolina school district last school year and the second most of any district in the Midlands; 114 students earned 123 Seals of Biliteracy, which is a new record for the district.
“This achievement reflects our students’ dedication to language learning, our teachers’ commitment to excellence and our community and district’s support for multilingualism and cultural understanding. Richland One continues to be a leader in the state in quality language education,” said Paul Spence, Richland One’s coordinator of world languages and multilingual programs.
