Richland One Selected to Host Statewide Technology Conference for Educators
September 12, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – For the second consecutive year, Richland One has been selected to host “DENapalooza,” a statewide conference that teaches educators how to integrate technology in the classroom effectively.
The event, which is being hosted in conjunction with the Discovery Education Network (DEN), will be held Saturday, September 20 from 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Olympia Learning Center, 621 Bluff Road.
This free day of professional development will give teachers, administrators, principals and other educators from across the state lots of ideas for effectively using technology to enhance classroom learning. DENapalooza is open to all certified public school educators in South Carolina.
Ida Thompson, Richland One’s director of instructional technology services, encourages educators and school leaders to attend.
“It will be fun, engaging and powerful to join other educators from across the country to learn more about integrating technology in the classroom,” said Thompson. “The day will consist of formal presentations from STAR Discovery Educators and members of the Discovery Education Network team in the morning, followed by a break for networking and lunch, then an ‘unconference’ in the afternoon.”
Topics covered at DENapalooza will include using streaming video in student projects, usage of technology for assessments, iMovies, Edmodo and Google apps and blended learning.
School officials can register for the conference at this link:
