Richland Two Awarded the 2014 Sylvia Charp Award for District Innovation in Technology
May 6, 2014COLUMBIA, SC – May 6, 2014 – Richland School District Two is the winner of the 2014 Sylvia Charp Award for District Innovation in Technology. Presented by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and T.H.E. Journal, in honor of the magazine’s founding editor, this award recognizes a school system for exhibiting effectiveness and innovation in the application of technology. Richland School District Two is honored for bringing innovative practices to its classrooms, through both a 1:1 and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs that are being implemented with a focus on ensuring that the proper policies and procedures to support learning are in place.
“We are honored to have this award presented to Richland Two,” said Superintendent Debbie Hamm. “Our staff has worked tirelessly to implement these programs in the district and to offer our students every opportunity to prepare for the digital world that awaits them.”
Superintendent Hamm, along with Chief Information Technology Officer Tom Cranmer, Technology Integration Coordinator Donna Teuber and Executive Director of Academic Services Nancy Gregory will receive the award for the district at ISTE 2014, June 28-July 1, at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta, and the district will be featured in an upcoming issue of T.H.E. Journal.
