August 1, 2024

Richland School District Two has named Darci Rush as its new Senior Chief Communications Officer, effective August 1. Rush brings over two decades of broadcast journalism experience and a strong connection to the local community to this pivotal role.

Rush joins Richland School District Two from WLTX, where she most recently served as Content Manager and Senior Anchor. Her extensive background in media and communications, coupled with her deep roots in South Carolina, make her uniquely qualified to lead the district’s communications strategy and foster key partnerships.

“We are thrilled to welcome Darci Rush to our leadership team,” said Superintendent Dr. Kim D. Moore. “Her expertise in content creation, media management, and community engagement will be invaluable as we continue to enhance our communication efforts and build strategic relationships within our district and beyond.”

Rush’s impressive career includes multiple Emmy Awards, the 2023 SC Broadcasters Association Masters Award, and recognition as the 2019 SC Broadcasters TV Anchor of the Year. She also received the DuPont and Regional Murrow Awards.

In her new role, Rush will oversee all aspects of the district’s internal and external communications, media relations, and strategic partnerships.

Rush holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Carolina and a Certificate in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. She is also a University of South Carolina Media Law Fellow.

“I am honored to join Richland School District Two in this exciting new capacity,” said Rush. “I look forward to leveraging my experience in communications and community engagement to support the district’s mission and enhance its connection with all partners.”

Rush is married and is a longtime district parent. She has three daughters: Logan, who was the 2023 Westwood High School valedictorian, and Layla and Lauren, who are rising seniors.
