Join a Princess, a Reporter and Their Vespa for Valentine’s Cinema
If you could spend one day doing exactly as you wished, might that day include falling in love? Friends and sweethearts will gather at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College on February 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. for Valentine’s Cinema, joining Audrey Hepburn as she seeks adventure and freedom – and finds more than she bargained for via Gregory Peck – in the classic film Roman Holiday.
Valentine’s Cinema, an annual tradition at Harbison Theatre, kicks off at 7:00 p.m., with a reception in the lobby featuring Italian-inspired sweets, savories and bubbly, as well as a film-inspired photo booth. At 8 p.m., the screen will light up with the Oscar-winning romantic comedy Roman Holiday, starring iconic actress Hepburn – who won an Academy Award for her performance – and critically acclaimed Peck.
Roman Holiday, in which a high-spirited princess plays hooky from her royal duties in beautiful Rome – unwittingly inviting an undercover reporter along for the ride – is described as “one of Hollywood’s most sweetly romantic films – a frothy, modern telling of the Cinderella story, in reverse.”
“Roman Holiday wrote the recipe for the cinematic way to fall in love – the wistfulness, the silliness, the humor, the cat and mouse sneakiness,” says Katie Fox, Executive Director of Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College. “We’ve had great fun with lighthearted classic romances the past couple of years and look forward to another charming evening.” Fox adds, “In staying with our Roman Holiday theme, look for sweet and savory tastes of Italy in the lobby before the film!”
Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College is partnering with Homegrown Hospitality Group to give hopeful guests a chance to win a Valentine’s Cinema: Roman Holiday giveaway package, which includes tickets to the Harbison Theatre event on Feb. 13 and dinner for two at Kaminsky’s Dessert Café, Liberty Taproom, Liberty on the Lake, Pearlz Oyster Bar or Rioz Brazilian Steakhouse.
Guests can register to win online at http://www.harbisontheatre.org until Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. Four winners will be selected at random, notified and announced on Monday, February 8, 2016. Patrons who enter to win are urged to purchase tickets to Valentine’s Cinema in advance; giveaway winners will be refunded immediately upon win.

Buyers may also order tickets via phone at 803.407.5011, or in person at the Harbison Theatre Box Office, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The box office also will open two hours prior to each show for purchasing tickets the day of the event.
