Roper St. Francis Healthcare Nurse of the Year Awards

As part of National Nurses Week (May 6-12), The Roper St. Francis Healthcare Nurse of the Year Awards are presented annually to nurses that demonstrate excellent contributions to the healthcare system, with a strong commitment to enhancing the culture of Nursing Excellence.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare awarded several nurses including Rising Star of the Year Vanessa Welton. The Rising Star Nurse of the Year is presented annually to a direct-care nurse with less than two years of nursing experience who has demonstrated engagement within Roper St. Francis Healthcare, is a team player, has professional growth and drive and is exemplifying the professional practice model at the hospital they work.

Vanessa has the unique ability to connect with her patients, especially those who are diabetic, using her own personal experience with the disease to build trust and better assist her patients. In 2023, Welton was nominated for nursing services teammate of the year.

Roper St. Francis Healthcare hosted its annual Nursing Awards and Recognition Banquet last night to celebrate its top nurses.
