Ryan Van Omen named assistant principal at Brookland-Cayce High School

A familiar face at Brookland-Cayce High School has been named a new administrator there.

Ryan Van Omen has been named an assistant principal at Brookland-Cayce High School. His hiring was recommended by Superintendent Dr. Brenda Hafner and approved by the Board of Trustees at its August 1 meeting.

Van Omen currently serves as an assistant administrator and math teacher at Brookland-Cayce, where he started his education career in 2018. He has also served as math department chair.

Van Omen received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a M.Ed. from Grand Canyon University. He is a Brookland-Cayce alum, having graduated from the Lexington Two high school in 2015.

“I am so excited to take on this new role in the district and school that not only raised me, but has been my home ever since,” Van Omen said.  “As I transition into this role, I hope to continue to serve our Brookland-Cayce community while holding tight to my teacher roots to ensure that our educators feel empowered and our students receive the best education possible!”

Van Omen added, “I truly love my Brookland Cayce family – once a Bearcat, always a Bearcat.”
