S.C. Phil’s Tasting Notes continues growth at 5

Nineteen restaurants and 50 upscale wines will raise funds for the South Carolina Philharmonic during Tasting Notes 2017 on Monday, March 27 at the S.C. State Museum, 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Other than concerts, Tasting Notes is the S.C. Phil’s signature event – an annual survey of some of the best wines from around the world and almost 20 of the Midlands’ best restaurants. The business casual fundraiser for educational outreach programs and the Masterworks Series turns five this year and should bring its cumulative contribution to the orchestra to $250,000.
Event Chair Brenda Wheeler, along with grand sponsors Ameris Bank and Foreign Cars Italia Charlotte, invite up to 500 guests to sample the wine and food, but also enjoy live music from the Reggie Sullivan Quartet, cigar sampling from Tinder Box, valet parking from Southern Valet, and complimentary, safe rides home from Checker Yellow Cab for those who need them.
There’s also a silent auction featuring these signature items, and more:
- Channel James Bond for a weekend by winning rental of a 2017 Aston Martin DB11 (pictured), compliments of Foreign Cars Italia Charlotte;
- Dinner for eight at Jack Brantley’s elegant Aberdeen in Camden;
- One week stay in a charming, 3 bedroom/3 bath country home in Nyons, France;
- and a two-night stay at the Ledson Hotel including private wine tasting for two at the Ledson Winery in Sonoma, Calif.

Restaurants scheduled to appear include new and returning hotspots: 116 Espresso & Wine Bar, Alodia’s Cucina Italiana, Blue Marlin Steaks & Seafood, Bourbon Columbia, Gervais & Vine, Grill Marks, Kaminsky’s Dessert Café, Main Street Public House, Miyo’s / M Vista / M Grille, Motor Supply Co. Bistro, Pearlz Oyster Bar, Ristorante Divino, Talullah, The Melting Pot, The Oak Table, The Wired Goat, Thirsty Fellow Pizzeria and Pub, Travinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar Northeast, and Twisted Spur. Cabot Creamery is providing a cheese station.
