SafeRack LLC announces expansion in Georgetown County
December 14, 2011More than $9 million investment expected to create 58 new jobs
COLUMBIA, SC – December 14, 2011 – SafeRack LLC, a maker of loading racks, platforms and fall protectionequipment, today announced plans to expand its current operations inGeorgetown County. The more than $9 million investment is expected togenerate 58 new jobs.
“Weare excited about the chance to grow our footprint in South Carolina.We are seeing increasing demand for the products we provide and thisexpansion will help us to better serve our customers. Georgetown Countyhas provided us an excellent place to do business,” said David Raines,chief financial officer for SafeRack.
SafeRackis in the process of adding production capabilities to its GeorgetownCounty plant. The company produces a range of loading platforms and fallprotection equipment at the plant, and the expansion will allow theplant to manufacture more customized products.
“Everyday we’re working to recruit new business to our state, but we alsowork to make sure South Carolina provides an environment where ourexisting businesses can prosper. SafeRack’s decision to expand andcreate 58 new jobs shows we are on the right track,” said Gov. NikkiHaley.
Sincethe beginning of the year, South Carolina has recruited more than $3.9billion in investment and more than 12,000 new jobs in the manufacturingsector.
“Manufacturingcontinues to be a job creator in the Palmetto State. Today’sannouncement by SafeRack shows that South Carolina’s business-friendlyclimate and talented workforce continue to help companies succeed andgrow,” said Bobby Hitt, Secretary of Commerce.
“GeorgetownCounty is proud of the success SafeRack has enjoyed since locating inthe Georgetown County Business Center industrial park in 2005. Seeinghigh tech companies like SafeRack grow at such a rapid pace speaksvolumes for the quality of our workforce as well as our local businessclimate. We are excited to see jobs being created within our communityand wish the company continued success in the years to come,” saidGeorgetown County Council Chairman Johnny Morant.
TheCoordinating Council for Economic Development approved the company forjob development credits, which will be available when hiring targets aremet. The S.C. Technical College System will provide pre-employmenttraining.
