Sales Savvy – What’s your mission and goals
June 23, 2015By Jerry Bellune
.
Now lets write your mission and three major goals.
Lets take your mission statement first.
The best ones are clear, memorable and concise.
Their average length is only 15 or fewer words.
Here are examples from non-profits.
The USO (United Service Organization):
Lift the spirits of America’s troops and their families.
The Wounded Warrior Project:
To honor and empower wounded warriors.
PBS (the Public Broadcasting System):
To create content that educates, informs and inspires.
.
Here are some personal mission statements.
From a corporate CEO:
To offer the highest quality leadership to our people.
From a college football coach:
To expect as much of myself as of my players.
From a sales executive:
To understand client needs and always put them first.
.
Now, as to setting your goals:
Make them the biggest goals you can imagine.
They should take you at least the next six months.
Revise these monthly as conditions change.
You cannot anticipate all the problems you will face.
Unforeseen problems and challenges will surface.
Attractive opportunities will present themselves.
It’s OK to revise your vision, mission and goals.
.
Be flexible and change to meet new challenges.
Be creative. Take advantage of new opportunities.
Dream about your goals. Write them out.
Make a commitment to yourself as you write them.
An unwritten goal is just a pipe dream.
Date your mission and goals as you revise them.
If you need them, I’ll send you planning sheets.
I’ve used these for almost everything in my life.
They work for large goals and small ones.
