The Salvation Army thanks the community for a successful Christmas season

January 20, 2017

Thanks to generous community efforts, The Salvation Army of the Midlands raised over $391,000 with our red kettle campaign this Christmas season. Over 3,100 children from more than 1,300 families were assisted and received Christmas presents and food for the holidays.

The Salvation Army would like to thank everyone who gave at the red kettle, adopted an angel, contributed at the Stuff A Bus events, or gave toys at any of the toy drive locations!

During the Christmas season over 2,300 volunteers provided more than 5,600 volunteer hours.

Many of the Christmas efforts to help those in need during this time of year would not be possible without the support and volunteer hours from businesses, local schools, organizations, and individuals.

As we move into 2017, there are still outstanding needs and the community still needs assistance. One option to support the efforts of The Salvation Army would be a regular yearly contribution. This will directly help meet the needs of children and families every single day through our local social programs and services. Donations can be designated to support the children’s after school reading program, food baskets, meals for the homeless, rental/utility assistance, clothing, and disaster services.

Again, The Salvation Army of the Midlands would like to thank you for a wonderful 2016 Christmas season!
