Santee Cooper's Overton Park beach opening May 26
May 16, 2012MONCKS CORNER, SC – Santee Cooper’s Overton Park, a 400-footbeachfront swimming area on Lake Moultrie, opens Saturday, May 26, andremains open through Labor Day.
Overton is open daily to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. withcertified lifeguards on duty. Hours will be limited to only weekendsonce Berkeley County Schools resume in August. Admission is $2 perperson ages 4 and up. A $40 season pass allows unlimited entry for up tofour people. Annual passes to the Old Santee Canal Park are not validat Overton.
In addition to its beachfront and swimming, Overton Park offers aplayground and several picnic shelters. Shelter rentals are $25 each forthe two smaller shelters and $50 for the larger shelter. Groups arepermitted to rent shelters after hours until 9 p.m., with swimmingallowed until 8 p.m. The cost is $100 for groups up to 25, with onelifeguard required, and $200 for groups over 25, with two lifeguardsrequired. Park admission is also required for group rentals.
Directions to Overton Park from Moncks Corner: Take U.S. Highway 52toward Florence, and turn left on Power House Road. Veer right on BlackOak Road and travel 1.5 miles. Turn left on Short Stay Road, and makethe first right onto Overton Park Lane. If travelling from Bonneau, St.Stephen or other areas to the north, the turn for Power House Road willbe on your right.
