Sarah Corbitt Wins Associate Award
March 31, 2015CHARLESTON, SC – LS3P congratulates Sarah Corbitt, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD + C, on winning the 2015 Associate Award from the South Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The award, which was presented at the chapter’s annual banquet on Friday, March 27, 2015 in Greenville, SC, recognizes Corbitt’s exceptional leadership and significant contributions to the profession early in her career.
Corbitt, who joined the firm’s Charleston, SC office in 2012, earned a Master of Architecture from North Carolina State University’s College of Design. With particular expertise in the area of sustainable design, Corbitt chairs the firm’s sustainability committee, working to provide knowledge, resources, and support to LS3P’s 245 staff members across 6 offices. Corbitt has led the firm in daylighting techniques and early-stage energy modeling to facilitate energy savings in a diverse portfolio of project types. Recent significant projects include the Summerville Medical Center Pediatric Emergency Department and PICU inpatient unit, and administration of the Green Globes sustainable rating system for the MeadWestVaco headquarters, which achieved South Carolina’s first “4 Green Globes” rating for sustainable interiors.

In addition to her contributions to sustainable design, Corbitt received the AIA Committee on Design’s Knowledge Scholar Fellowship in 2013. As part of her fellowship, she attended the international conference and wrote a series of accompanying articles on Berlin’s architecture.
