Savannah Scott named Rookie of the Year

Chernoff Newman, a long-standing and leading integrated communications agency based in the Southeast, is pleased to announce that Savannah Scott, public relations and social media coordinator, has been named the Rookie of the Year by the South Carolina Public Relations Society of America (SCPRSA). For more than 50 years, SCPRSA has been the largest and leading professional association for communicators within South Carolina. Scott received the honor at the organization’s annual awards event, the Mercury Awards, held Wednesday, April 19.

The award, nominated by clients, peers and industry professionals, recognizes a public relations professional with at most three years of experience and a bright future in the industry. Nominators said Scott is “an outstanding example of a promising young professional” and her “attention to detail, professionalism, resourcefulness, and collaborative qualities [are] unmatched.”

In addition, Chernoff Newman received multiple awards for recent work, including two Mercury Awards of Excellence, two Silver Wing Awards of Merit, one Silver Wing Award of Excellence and one Silver Wing Best in Show.

During the awards ceremony, Brooks Hearn, public relations senior manager, received her APR pin in recognition of her recent completion of the Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) certifying her professional expertise and competence.
