SC 25 Fastest Growing Companies Honored at Luncheon

COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina’s 25 Fastest Growing Companies presented by The Capital Corporation were honored at a luncheon Oct. 21 at the Marriott Hotel in Columbia.

Lima One Capital of Greenville, which provides hard money financing to residential real estate investors and developers, was judged to be the Fastest Growing Company in the South Carolina on the basis of the growth of its revenue and employment. Number two was SolBright Renewable Energy (a provider of solar energy solutions to institutions and the military and last year’s overall winner). Coming in third was PureCars, which provides online information for used car buyers. These latter two companies are headquartered in Charleston.

Partner Sponsors of the SC 25 Fastest Growing Companies competition are Scott & Company CPAs, Wells Fargo, McNair Law Firm, Columbia Business Monthly and Greenville Business Magazine.

Other sponsors are The George Dean Johnson, Jr., College of Business and Economics at University of South Carolina Upstate, Clemson University’s Rutland Institute for Ethics, and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce.

Companies must be headquartered in South Carolina and be in business for at least three years. They are judged on the growth of their income over the last three years, and the growth of their employment. Scott & Company audits their tax returns and their federal employee tax filings to verify income and employee growth over the period.

Representatives of The Capital Corporation and Partner Sponsors make on-site visits of nominees to interview key personnel and view company operations.

“We had a very strong field this year,” said George Moseley, Principal of The Capital Corporation.

“We were impressed with the energy and passion we saw on the site visits,” said Don Mobley, managing member of Scott and Company.

“We love the opportunity to recognize the growth of South Carolina’s companies,” said Lori Coon, publisher of Columbia Business Monthly and Greenville Business Magazine.

Once all the data is in hand, the selections are made. Winners are notified, but not given their ranking until the awards luncheon.

The keynote speaker of this year’s ceremony was Jack Jones, Vice President and General Manager of Boeing South Carolina.
