SC Bar recognizes the Joye Law Firm for raising the bar

The SC Bar recognizes Joye Law Firm for their recent $100,000 donation to the Charleston Animal Society to provide care and to find loving homes for pets and the firm also hosted their annual Scholarship and Teacher Awards. Nearly $250,000 in scholarships have been awarded in the last 15 years.
Annual Scholarship and Teacher Awards
Every year, Joye Law Firm offers six $2,000 scholarships to graduating South Carolina seniors attending a four-year university, and one $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior who plans to attend a HBCU. These award recipients are selected through their skills of leadership, creativity, community involvement, and academic achievements. Within the application process, students must also tell of a teacher who has impacted their learning in a positive way and inspired their creativity within the classroom. This allows that teacher to receive an Outstanding Teacher Scholarship Award from the law firm. A banquet was held to honor the student and teacher award recipients on June 13 at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, SC.
Mark Joye, Partner at Joye Law Firm, has a strong passion for investing in education. “The scholarship program was founded in 2005 by my late father and firm founder, Reese I. Joye, who was a big believer in the importance of accessing a good, quality education. Even after his passing, I am proud to have kept this tradition alive, and am simply amazed by how the program has grown each year. We’ve awarded nearly $250,000 in scholarships, with no signs of slowing down.”
Charleston Animal Society Contribution
Joye Law Firm also presented a check for $100,000 to Joe Elmore and Kay Hyman of the Charleston Animal Society to honor their above and beyond efforts to care for and find homes for pets in need. This contribution is in honor of the late Joye Law Firm client, Johnny Scott, who was injured in an automobile accident and later passed from his injuries. While in the hospital, his main concern was caring for his two beloved Cane Corsos. The Charleston Animal Society stepped in and not only took great care of the dogs but worked tirelessly to find them loving new homes following Johnny’s death. With this contribution, a new revitalized play yard will be created and named in memory of Scott and his two dogs. The firm has been partnered with the shelter for 15 years.
