SC Council on Competitiveness Supports Removal of the Confederate Flag from Statehouse Grounds
June 23, 2015COLUMBIA, SC – In the aftermath of the tragic shooting in Charleston on June 17, South Carolina’s citizens and business community are calling for the removal of the Confederate flag from the Statehouse grounds. The South Carolina Council on Competitiveness joins our state’s citizens and business leaders in this endeavor.
The Council’s mission is to advance the long-term economic competitiveness of our state, our industries and our citizens. We believe that allowing division to continue among our citizens will harm South Carolina’s ability to secure its economic future.
Our state’s economic growth and success has been the result of collaboration and cooperation. We must look forward and present a united front to continue along this path of growth.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families and the Charleston community as they navigate through this challenging time.
