SC Hispanic Chamber President Attends Cinco de Mayo at the White House

GREENVILLE, SC – SC Hispanic Chamber of Commerce president, Evelyn Lugo, attended the Vice President’s and President’s Cinco de Mayo festivities at the Capitol last Monday.
About forty people attended the Vice President’s breakfast. Vice President Biden spoke about the positive influence of Hispanic heritage in America and the importance of passing immigration reform.
Notable attendees included the ambassador of Mexico, the ambassador to Mexico, Rep. Xavier Becerra, Rep. Joaquin Castro and Mrs. Biden.
Lugo spoke privately with the Vice President and Mrs. Biden about South Carolina’s Hispanic business community. She also reconnected with CNN and Univision reporters.
About 150 people attended the President’s event at the White House. The guest list included many of the same politicians and executives from breakfast. President Obama continued the morning’s theme, celebrating the influence of Hispanic heritage in America and stressing the need for immigration reform.
