SC Humanities announces Ask Me Anything State Tour
February 18, 2026Statewide series introduces new Executive Director and invites public dialogue across all seven congressional districts.
South Carolina Humanities announces the launch of its new statewide public engagement initiative, SC Humanities Ask Me Anything: Communities. Conversations. Culture, a seven-stop tour across South Carolina designed to introduce the organization’s new Executive Director, Jennifer “Bingo” Gunter, and invite open dialogue with communities across the state.
The tour will kick off on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 2:00–3:30 p.m. at the Aiken County Public Library, marking the first stop in a series of gatherings held across all seven congressional districts through fall 2026.
Designed as an open, community-driven forum, the Ask Me Anything tour creates space for conversation, listening, and shared reflection on the role of the humanities in South Carolina today. Each event will explore:
- Who SC Humanities is and what the organization does
- Why the humanities matter
- The Council’s role in supporting local communities
- The importance of South Carolina’s cultural economy
- New priorities shaping the future of humanities work statewide
“The past year has shown us just how deeply people across South Carolina value and support SC Humanities. It’s clear that the humanities are not abstract — they are alive and happening right now in our communities, classrooms, and conversations that make us think, feel, and grow. This tour takes us across the state, from the Lowcountry to the Upstate, where we can see firsthand how stories, history, and dialogue bring people together and remind us of our shared humanity.”
Each stop on the tour will feature welcome remarks from the host organization, local partners, and a brief testimonial from a special guest SC Humanities grantee local to the area, followed by an open conversation and Q&A opportunity for attendees. The format emphasizes accessibility, dialogue, and shared learning, with events lasting approximately 60–90 minutes.
The Aiken event will include a welcome from the Aiken County Public Library and remarks from the Aiken County Historical Museum, highlighting the impact of SC Humanities funding and partnerships in the region.
Additional tour stops are scheduled or in development for Florence, Clemson/Pickens, Greenville, Camden, Orangeburg, and Mitchellville/Hilton Head Island, engaging libraries, universities, museums, and cultural organizations throughout the state.
The Ask Me Anything tour serves as a soft-launch introduction for SC Humanities’ new leadership while reinforcing the organization’s mission, building trust and visibility, and gathering community input to inform future programming and partnerships. The series is also part of the organization’s new two-year strategic plan and executive leadership launch.
All events are free and open to the public. Registration is requested. For more information and to register, visit: https://schumanities.org/ask-me-anything-state-tour/ or contact SC Humanities at (803) 771-2477.
