December 13, 2011COLUMBIA, SC – December 12, 2011 – SCRA Technology Ventures program, SC Launch, recently announced that Portfolio Company KIYATEC has launched four new products in conjunction with life sciencecompanies New Brunswick Scientific, Biomerix, and 3D Biotek. The newproducts, 3DKUBE™ – Fibra-Cel® Disk Preloads, 3DKUBE™ – Biomerix 3DScaffold™ Preloads and two versions of 3DKUBE™ – 3D Insert™ Preloads arehigh value, high impact offerings which dramatically advance researchcapabilities in 3D cell culture. These new products will allow 3D cellculture researchers to “just add cells” via perfusion seeding into thepartner company’s highly standardized scaffolds inside KIYATEC’s 3DKUBE3D Cell Culture Plasticware.
The preloaded products allow for a combination of universality, richfeatures and cost effectiveness in various laboratory applications.Sigma Life Sciences, a leading life science and high technology companywith $2.3 billion in sales of chemicals and laboratory equipment in2010, will distribute KIYATEC’s new 3D cell culture products, addingthem to their current list of KIYATEC offerings.
“These new products raise our technology platform to a whole newlevel – by complementing earlier products in which the customer suppliestheir own cell culture scaffold, the capability to also incorporatepreloaded scaffolds made by leading manufacturers further cements the3DKUBE as a standard method for 3D cell culture.” said KIYATEC CEO MattGevaert, Ph.D. “Allowing researchers and laboratories to convenientlyand efficiently perform experiments that are also tightly controlled andreproducible moves the field forward and brings us all closer to betterprediction of drug effects without animal research. We are also proudto be a South Carolina company and part of the SC Launch program; it isthrough their support that we find ourselves in the position toaccomplish this industry first achievement.”
“KIYATEC has made great strides since first joining the SC Launchprogram,” said SCRA Executive Vice President and SC Launch ExecutiveDirector Dave McNamara. “It was less than a year ago that SC Launchpresented an investment to this company and already they are makinggreat contributions to the Knowledge Economy of South Carolina.
